Ultimately, people buy from people and this is when the employees do make a difference and where you can make a difference to them. If the best form of advertising is your staff – does their visual image represent the brand appropriately?
Research shows that people make a judgement about a person within the first 30 seconds of meeting them. The results from a study by Professor Albert Mehrabian (University of California), shows that 55% of that judgement is through non-verbal communication. Only 38% is based on the tone of voice and a mere 7% of the actual words used.
If your employees look the part they will feel confident and professional, their words will be reinforced and the message they give will be stronger.

I believe that careless dressing creates a careless attitude. Whereas those who take care over their appearance at work give the message that they value themselves, the people they work for and the customers they serve. Similarly, someone who wears a dated look may suggest that their ideas and opinions are also outdated – this could be very unhelpful for your business.
During the 1990’s many companies introduced “Dress-Down Friday”. It was quickly realised that staff were less productive on those days. A recent concept of “Dress-Up Monday” has been implemented by many to help staff start the new working week with a positive attitude and clear focus.
