Stylicious Career Boutique

Your Invitation

I am delighted to invite you to become a supporter of this new, exciting and unique venture. The Stylicious Career Boutique is a well stocked collection of appropriate work-wear donated by people across the City of Nottingham. In taking part by donating suitable items of clothing you will be helping unemployed men and women greatly improve their success rate at job interview.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression

Imagine the Scene

You are out of work and desperate for a job. You have had help in putting your CV together and in completing and submitting job application forms.

After applying for dozens of jobs without success, you have at last been offered an interview.

Your heart sinks because you don’t have anything to wear that is suitable and no access to cash from any source. This is when Stylicious Career Boutique can help.

"Maryanne ran into BEST in a panic telling that she had an interview with Tesco the following day and had nothing to wear!

I took her to the Boutique next door and after assessing her body shape kitted her out in a Paul Costelloe Trouser Suit.

We then added a bright top from John Lewis and Accessories from Wallis to express her personality and brighten her look. She was delighted and instantly more confident. Maryanne left us with a spring in her step to sort out her hair and make up.

For every story picked up by the media about people seemingly living a millionaire lifestyle on state benefit there are thousands who are struggling to exist and who want to work – it is these people the Boutique works with

Stylicious will continue to use the Boutique to meet the interview clothing needs of the client group and ensure that the most flattering and relevant interview outfit is provided. The job seeker does not have to pay for what they receive – hence we need lots of donations to ensure that the Boutique can be sustained and have longevity.

You can Help if:

You are working for a company or provider of public services that is seeking unique and cost effective ways to help those

in disadvantaged communities under the umbrella of Corporate Social Responsibility

You have appropriate work-wear in your wardrobe that you would like taking off your hands

You work with unemployed adults living in a disadvantaged area of Nottingham to help them find employment

Stylicious Career Boutique is due to fully launch by the end of November 10. For the first 12 months it will be based alongside BEST - a social enterprise and charity in North West Nottingham that works with the long-term unemployed through a range of training and employment initiatives. This new project builds on the dynamic partnership that already exists between the two businesses. The plan for the future is to extend and replicate the model in other areas.

"Give as you Gain"

As a supporter you will of course not be expected to launder or repair any items, we will do that. To minimise inconvenience Stylicious will collect the items from businesses and individuals.

If you are interested in being involved from the perspective of a business or service provider, you could perhaps invite members of staff to bring in suitable items to work, which we will then collect. Donations that come through this source will enable you to take advantage of  a special offer from Stylicious - For every 2 hours corporate image consultancy that is bought, (which goes towards the running of the boutique), I will donate 1 hour to helping the unemployed clients in their quest for employment.
